The Term SEO

I've only been a member of this forum for a couple of years, although I don't think the term "noobie" applies to me any more (I can now talk with much more knowledge and authority than the lay-man on the subject matter) I am not one of the experienced people. The knowledge and expert advice given on this forum from experienced members is second to none on the web imo.

Many members of this forum who have vastly more experience than me, still seem to use the term SEO to mean optimizing your website to enable search engines to place it higher up on a page and to increase traffic (a particular emphasis is usually put on Google).

Many make statements similar to "I no longer bother with SEO".

However, to me at least, the term SEO now means something else. SEOmoz and other authority sites talk about it in a very very different way; even more so since the "attack of the black and white creatures".

SEO now seems to mean "optimizing your whole business model to run your online business in the most affective way possible in order to achieve your goals".

(The quote above is my own and not from any authority on the subject).

If so, should we now referrer to the term "SEO" on this forum differently?

Feel free to shoot me down, I'm not an authority and have a thick skin.

JJ
