UNLV assistant coach Khadevis Robinson is one race away from his second Olympic team.

Robinson, 35, won his semifinal heat of the 800 meters Saturday at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore. His time of 1 minute, 45.83 seconds was the fastest out of both heats, which makes him the top seed going into Monday's finals (7:47 p.m. on NBC Sports Network).

On Friday, Robinson won his quarterfinal heat with a time of 1:47.3. Robinson hadn't run in an open 800 race this season until earlier this month on Hayward Field, the same track he's currently dominating on. Robinson said he planned to keep his routine the same as it was at that meet earlier this month, even down to staying at the hotel. And so far it's fair to say that approach is working.

Robinson will be joined in the 800 finals by Duane Solomon Jr, Tyler Mulder, Elijah Greer, Charles Jock, Mark Wieczork, Nick Symmonds and Ryan Martin. At the U.S. Olympic Trials in 2008, Symmonds won with a time of 1:44.1 while Robinson finished fourth. Solomon was also in that race, finishing sixth.
